Police Station and Court House

The first two constables in Stockinbingal operated the police office from a tent, pitched by the Bland Creek in 1892.

The following year, two acres of land was allocated for police purposes, but it wasn’t until 1900 that a brick Police residence, stables, gaol cell and exercise yard were built.

Court cases were heard in Temora.

In March 1920, a temporary Court House and Police Station operated from the former Catholic church building in Hoskins Street.

Construction commenced on the new Court House and Police station in 1939, the successful tenderer for the construction being Mr A J Collingridge, of Cootamundra.

The new building was officially opened in June 1940, by Mr D Dickson MLA. The building is weatherboard on brick foundations with a corrugated iron roof. Internally featured a police office, court room, magistrate's room, and two store rooms.

Court hearings ceased here in 1984, but the police Station remains in operation.
