St James Anglican Church

Prior to the building of St James Church, Anglican services were held in a small building on Grogan Road, which was used by all church denominations. The land for St James Church was purchased from Thomas Quirk, by the Goulburn Diocese in 1906, the land was cleared and plans for the church were prepared by architect, Mr E Laver. The foundation stone for the building was laid in May 1910 by the Bishop of Goulburn the Right Reverend C.C. Barlow. The building contractor was Mr Hellner, of Temora, with interior carpentry by Mr H Zanker, of Cootamundra. The new church, costing £840, was officially opened free of debt in March 1911. A tennis court was built on the grounds, opening in April 1928 and used until 1960.
