October in Cootamundra

The first week of October is almost over and we have had our hottest days yet almost hitting the 30 degree mark and rain! With the weather giving us a taste of the best of both worlds crops are booming with the warmth and watering provided from the skies above.

Most Canola crops are out in flower now, with some of them loosing their flowers and many farmers getting ready to harvest. Over the rest of October you will start to see more harvested fields with rows or crops pilled on the ground. Silage has also started, storing harvested goods for the summer months, providing a sweet treat for cattle and sheep. All in all this time of year is very busy around the outskirts of town.

Keeping Busy

The possibilities to let your rural spirit play in Cootamundra are endless. With the weather warming up its a great month to explore the nature and outdoors of Cootamundra.

Bird Watching

Cootamundra and surrounds are home to a wide variety of bird species, alot of which are native to Australia and the Riverina. The sky is often hung with flocks of birds, flying above the golden canola crops.
